We are in a process of continual change. Our future may seem unmoored and uncertain. As a country and globally, we find ourselves brutalized, at war with a ruthless, unseen foe, and in a state of shocking, unsettling and relentless adjustment.
Change is well reputed to be an uncomfortable state for we human beings; we who like planning, structure and dependability. It is perhaps easy to move into fear, to feel the need to protect ourselves or run away. To lash out, blame, obsess, or become teary, addictive, irritated, depressed or angry. It is not easy being human right now.
Indulging in worry or fear, or unhealthy mental, emotional and physical behaviors only depletes our reserves and adds to our strain. We are encouraged by the Blessed Beings to utilize this time well and emphasize different aspects of our growth so that when we emerge from this confinement, we will be rooted in life in new and beautiful ways. They wish for us to anchor ourselves more truthfully, lovingly and deeply as individuals and in our relationships. We have the opportunity, through this battle, to develop deeper roots, as well as branches, personally, interpersonally and spiritually.
Whatever our ideologic affinity, we can strengthen in our Faith by nurturing self-awareness, loving, mindful relating and richer internal connection. One effective way to actively work with this is to develop a Core Belief System, to get in touch with what you really believe or strive to believe. They invite you to devote time to tuning in to your heart and inner being and asking them to help you deeply, sincerely identify your Core Beliefs and begin writing them down as a touchstone for your evolution and strength. You will likely find they will reveal themselves to you for a while and continue to evolve as you, yourself evolve. I review my own as a foundation regularly and at tough times.
Questions you may consider to get you started are:
** What do I believe about life?
** What do I believe about love?
** What do I believe about God or whatever terminology you resonate with?
** What do I believe about family and community?
** What do I really know to be true about myself? (See yourself lovingly.)
** What are my deeper gifts or dreams that I want to express?
** What do I believe about nature?
** What do I believe about religion, spirituality and faith?
** What do I believe about death?
** What do I believe about prayer?
A rich Inner Life is a treasure beyond our wildest imagine. It is well worth the effort to excavate and nurture. It will anchor and protect you well in this unfolding new age.
